Outfit | Fur & Checks

You'd never guess by looking at my current wardrobe but I actually used to really despise tartan printed clothing! I'm not sure why that was but in more recent years, I've become a bit obsessed and my wardrobe now consists of many different checked and tartan prints. Its the one print I always think of when I think of A/W style and my Winter wardrobe certainly wouldn't be complete without some! 

The latest addition to my collection is this cute checked bodycon dress* from Blue Vanilla which is perfect for both day and night wear. I have to admit, its a little shorter than I'd like and I did have to keep pulling it down but other than that its a lovely dress - I love the cute little sleeves, the quality is great and it has a lovely flocked textured fabric. 

In these photos I've styled it as a day look with some tights, my trusty AX Paris ankle boots and a snuggly faux fur coat*, which is also from Blue Vanilla. I love how they look paired together and the coat is so soft and cosy. I didn't think I'd be able to pull off such a bold item at first but after trying it on, I realised I need to step out of my comfort zone more often because I really like it. It also keeps me sooo warm in the horribly low temperatures we've been experiencing recently so that's a nice bonus too.

There's not a great deal more to say about this look (I never know what to say about my outifts, have you guessed yet?) but I'd highly recommend checking out Blue Vanilla as they've got some gorgeous bits and pieces to offer and I'm very impressed with this combo. They're a fairly new company but are already loved by lots of bloggers and rightly so!

Outfit | Thigh High

My biggest obsession at the moment would have to be thigh high boots. I bought these beauts from NEXT after seeing them on the fabulous Lydia Millen and since then, I've not stopped wearing them. I think they make any outfit look 10x more chic. I love that these ones have a little heel as they're great for glamming up a plain outfit or wearing in the evening but I have to say, they do get a little uncomfortable after a while. However, I've naturally asked for some flat thigh highs for Christmas so there's that problem solved. Yep, I told you, obsessed.

As well as thigh high boots, I'm also loving Winter coats. I never used to like big tailored coats and would always stick to my leather jacket, even in the depths of Winter when I was freezing. Not ideal. However, this A/W things have changed and my coat collection is forever expanding. The most recent addition is this pastel pink boyfriend coat* from Daisy Street. I really love the colour as it goes with lots of things and is a bit different from the classic black / camel coats all over the high street. 

In the photos above I've paired the coat and boots with this super cute paisley print playsuit* which is also from Daisy Street. I absoloutely LOVE how it looks with a pair of tights and boots and because its a silky material, its so comfortable. I also love the pop of colour on the shoulders. I think I'll get wear out of this throughout Winter but also in Summer too - its a lovely versatile piece.

I really love all of these pieces and think they work well together as an outfit but will also look fab with so many other items in my wardrobe! Also, ten points for any of you who spotted the guy photobombing me. Fashion blogger problems or what?!

Outfit | Misguided Must-Haves

Here I am, back with another fashion post. Check me out, getting all adventurous and all that. I was off work last week (which was complete bliss - I definitely needed some down time) so I dragged my boyfriend to a local park to take these photos for me. Its safe to say the weather was not on my side and I look ridiculously windswept on the majority of these photos! However, I persevered and manage to get a few pics of what I wore. 

This Missguided combo is my favourite outfit of the moment - I've worn it countless times now and I'm still not bored. The checked playsuit was a must-have as soon as I saw it on their website as I'm completely obsessed with all things checked at the moment and I love the flattering shape - its got 3/4 length sleeves which make it more winter appropriate and the material its made from is fairly thick and strudy. Paired with a thin waist belt (this one was only £1 from Primark), it makes for a stylish but comfortable look. For only £24.99 too, its a serious bargain and something I'll be wearing over and over again this season.

This tailored coat is also from Missguided and another item I've been wearing none stop recently. I was influenced to buy this after seeing the lovely Em from Em Talks looking fantastic in something similar over on her blog and I've had countless compliments since. I've always wanted to own a camel coat as I think they're such a timeless piece that can be worn over and over again with virtually any outfit. Whilst this one is probably not the best for keeping really warm throughout the Winter months (its quite thin), its one that can be dressed up or down and will instantly make any outfit look 10x more chic. I'm completely in love with it and for the price, I would urge everyone to buy it!

My boots are last season Topshop and SO comfortable - I've been wearing them almost every day as they're so easy to throw on with any outfit!

I'm really loving Missguided at the moment - I could spend all day browsing their site for fashion bargains!

Outfit | Autumn Favourites

If you're a regular reader of my blog you'll know that fashion posts aren't a regular thing and despite my love of buying new clothes and styling them, I tend to stick to what I'm comfortable with and that's writing about beauty. Yes I've done the odd outfit post in the past but I've never considered myself a 'fashion' blogger as I just don't post them often enough and the quality / posing in my past 'outfit of the days' are pretty questionable to say the least. 

Well, I've decided I need to start branching out more and make my blog content more varied. Yes I love beauty and it will always be the main focus of my blog but I really want to step outside my comfort zone and try my hand at some fashion posts too. I really love seeing how the normal every day girl dresses and although I'm not super fashion forward, I like to think I know how to put an outfit together and most of the things I wear are affordable and easy for anyone to wear. I have to say I'm not the worlds most confident girl in the world so doing posts like this does still petrify me but if you enjoy this one and do want to see them become a regular feature, please let me know.

Another reason I've never done many fashion posts in the past is the fact I never have anyone to take decent photos for me. My boyfriends works long hours and I'm useless with a tripod - I can never capture myself at the right angle and its just a lot of faffing around. However, one of my work colleagues Anne-Marie (see her blog here) has kindly offered to help me out with photos and I'll do the same for her. So a big thanks to you for these images Anne-Marie, I'm really chuffed with how they turned out, even if I did feel like a complete idiot posing and burst out laughing multiple times. Whoops!

Anyway, rambling aside, lets get to the nitty gritty - the outfit. Firstly I have to mention that I'm absolutely loving this colder weather as it means I can wear boots with tights and cosy coats - LOVE! Talking of coats, I'm literally obsessed with my new new textured wool -blend coat* from Yum Direct. Its the perfect winter coat - it goes with almost everything in my wardrobe, fits like a glove, looks smart whilst still being stylish, has a lovely texture and big pockets to keep my hands warm. I'd never heard of Yumi Direct until they recently contacted me and I'm SO impressed with this coat that I'll definitely be checking out their other bits and pieces. It's so well made and will be a staple in my winter wardrobe.

I've also been wearing this diamond tile print twin set dress* from Blue Vanilla none stop recently. They're a brand new brand and I've been really impressed with what they have to offer so far. I also blogged about their gorgeous checked cape here. I love the print of this dress, it has a cue sixties vibe about it and its such an easy piece to throw on with a pair of tights and boots for an instant chic look. Its also pretty cool the the top part hangs loose so it looks like a co-ord rather than a dress. Again, this is going to be a Winter wardrobe staple. 

As I mentioned at the start of this post, I'm loving the fact I can now wear ankle boots again. They're definitely my favourite kind of shoe to wear as they're so versatile and make any outfit look more stylish. I've been wearing my Zip Trim ankle boots from AX Paris a lot recently as they go with absolutely everything. They do have a slightly bigger heel than I'm used to and they might not be the most appropriate boots for the ice cold and snowy Winter weather but for now, while the weather is still fairly mild, they're a great option. I've even worn these to go out in the evening as the bigger heel makes them look more dressy!

I also have to mention my beloved Michael Kors Jet Set Tote handbag* from Daniel Footwear. Since I got this bag back in August, not a day has gone by that I haven't used it. I'm utterly in love with it as it goes with every outfit, fits all my daily essentials in and looks super chic and sophisticated. I definitely need to get my hands on the tan version for the S/S months!

So there we have it, this is the outfit I wore on Monday! As I said, I'm not very 'out there' with my fashion choices and a lot of the outfits I wear will be fairly simple but I hope you enjoyed seeing it nonetheless and do let me know if you'd like to see more.
