Monthly Favourites | September

Beauty Blog Monthly Favourites, Beauty Blog Monthly Favourites 2014, Monthly Beauty Favourites, September Monthly Favourites,
Happy Friday everyone - I hope you're all set for a fab weekend! I can't believe we're now in October - I realise every blogger says this in their monthly favourites posts but seriously, where has this year gone? I've been pretty hectic lately with my new job and what not and time seems to be flying by! It'll be Christmas before we know it, not that I'm complaining, it is the most wonderful time of the year after all! Anyway. ramble aside, here's a few things I've been loving throughout September ...

No.7 Cleansing Water
I'm a big fan of cleansing waters as they're such a quick, easy and effective way to remove makeup! I try not to use them instead of a proper cleanser but to remove the bulk of my makeup or for days when I'm feeling lazy, its an essential part of my routine! I've been using this No.7 cleansing water for well over a month now after picking it up with one of their £5 off vouchers and I've really enjoyed using it. It has a lovely fresh fragrance, removes makeup easily and is gentle on my sensitive skin. Its also a bargain with £5 off so be sure to pick one up next time you have a voucher!

NYX brown pencil eyeliner
I was getting a tad bored of wearing black pencil and liquid liner every day so I decided I'd try and mix things up a bit and use brown instead! I wasn't expecting to like it having worn black eyeliner since I started wearing makeup but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I found it looked more natural and really brought out the colour of my blue eyes. I'd heard wearing brown and bronze eye shadow helped bring out the colour of blue eyes but I never realised liner could provide the same effect. Don't get me wrong, I still love my black liner but I've been enjoyed a more subtle look for the past few weeks! I hope toning things down isn't a sign I'm getting old? Eeek!

As I mentioned above, I've traded in my usual black liner for brown of late and I've been loving the more toned down and natural look! This Bourjois liquid liner has been accompanying the NYX liner mentioned above and paired together they make a fab little duo. This liner is pretty foolproof even for a liquid liner novice like myself - it glides on easily thanks to the pen style applicator and it last all day!

Beauty Blog Monthly Favourites, Beauty Blog Monthly Favourites 2014, Monthly Beauty Favourites, September Monthly Favourites,
Whenever a product promises to completely transform the skin, I often think 'yeah right' and that's exactly what I thought about this Garnier Miracle skin cream before I tried it. It promises to do a whole host of things including reducing the appearance of wrinkles, making skin appear flawless and smoothing its texture. Now although I was dubious, I have to say that it does live up to its claims and generally makes my skin look a lot better! I've been using it as a base for my foundation as it also protects and hydrates the skin as well as providing light coverage and smoothing the appearance of imperfections. When squeezed from the tube its a white liquid but don't let that put you off as it transforms to match your skin tone when blended.

When my skin requires a bit of extra TLC, I always turn to a good face oil and the one I've been loving recently is the Jurlique balancing face oil which is just amazing for injecting some extra moisture into my skin! I pop it on before going to bed and when I wake up in the morning my skin feels so soft and looks very plump and glowing! I don't think I'd use it in the morning as it does take a while to sink it but at night time, its the perfect pamper treat!

Crown Brush SS022 Syntho Jumbo Powder Brush
I'm pretty fussy when it comes to makeup brushes and there aren't many that compare to my beloved Real Techniques. However, after being sent a lovely selection from Crown Brush, I've been really impressed with some of their brushes, particuarly this Jumbo Powder brush which is fantastic for powdering or applying bronzer due to its large size! Its super soft too but fairly sturdy at the same time meaning it picks up product easily! I love it!

Considering the baby lips cost a mere £2.99, I absolutely love them for a quick bit of moisture! I particularly love 'Cherry Me' and I've been using it all the time lately instead of lipstick/gloss as it adds a lovely subtle hint of colour to my lips - perfect for every day wear. I also love adding it on top of my fave lipsticks to add a bit of shine! Just a great all rounder really and for me, a handbag essential!

What have you been loving lately?

Lots of love,

Monthly Favourites | July

The past month has been completely hectic for me as my dad was here visiting from Australia and I've spent the past four weeks travelling all over the UK to spend time with him. That's meant living out of suitcases for a good few weeks and sticking to the same products week in week out (due to the fact I was lazy and couldn't be bothered switching things up in my makeup and wash bags between trips). That also means I don't have a massive amount of favourites this month - I feel like I haven't had much chance to try new products but there are a few gems I've discovered as well as some regular favourites...

As you can see from the selection above, I haven't been trying out many new skin or hair care products recently but I have been trying a couple of new beauty products and rekindling my love for some old favourites. Two new products I've been loving are the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette which my lovely boyfriend bought for me for my birthday and the Revlon Photoready foundation which I bought on a recent trip to Boots. The eyeshadow palette has been my go-to for a good few weeks now as its just perfect for creating a natural eye look. I love that it has a mixture of matte and shimmery shades and I've been using it for both day and evening looks so its very versatile. Its also really cool that each row represents a different look (day, classic and fashion) and although I prefer to mix and match, this is a really nice idea, especially if you're new to makeup. I'll be reviewing this in full soon with swatches so keep your eyes peeled!

Revlon foundations have always been on my 'must try' list so when I was recently sent a Boots voucher, I immediately headed for the Revlon counter. I originally wanted to get the Colorstay foundation as its a blogger favourite but unfortunately they didn't have my shade. However, I was clearly meant to get the Photoready version instead as I've been really enjoying using it - its quite lightweight but has good coverage and makes my skin look really radiant. Again, keep your eyes peeled for a full review.

A few products I've owned for a while now but am still loving are the Benefit Watt's Up highlighter, the Urban Decay 24 hour eye liner in the shade 'Zero', Tanya Burr's lipgloss in 'Picnic in the Park' and a super old favourite Revlon lip butter in the shade 'Lollipop'. The Benefit highlighter is one of my more recent discoveries but I've been using it almost every day for the past couple of months to add dewy glow to my skin - you can read my full review here which explains why I love it so much! The Urban Decay eyeliner has been my go-to liner for the past couple of weeks after losing my MAC Smolder pencil and I'm impressed by it - I wouldn't say it beats MAC to the top spot but its definitely a close second and I haven't felt the need to rush out and repurchase my Smolder pencil just yet. My favourite lip combo over the past month would have to be my favourite Revlon lip butter 'Lollipop' which I'd consider one of my all time favourite lip products due to the beautiful berry pink shade and creamy formula paired with Tanya Burr's lipgloss in 'Picnic in the Park'. I love that Tanya's lip glosses aren't at all sticky and this soft pink shade is really flattering and can be worn over other lip products or on its own.

Although I haven't been delving into any new skin or hair care products recently, one thing I have switched up is my fragrance. My dad bought me the L'Occitane Cherry Blossom Eau de toilette from duty free on his way here and I'm absolutely in love with it. I love anything cherry scented so this perfume is my perfect scent - its sweet without being sickly, fresh and very feminine. I also love the sleek glass bottle! As well as the fragrance I've also been loving the matching cherry blossom shower gel and hand cream - using all three products together ensures the cherry fragrance sticks around even longer!

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know what you've been loving lately in the comments below!

Lots of love,

Monthly Favourites | June

Beauty Blog Monthly Favourites, Beauty Blog Monthly Favourites 2014, June Monthly Favourites, Monthly Beauty Favourites

I really can't believe we're now in July - its absoloute madness! I've been looking forward to my dad coming to visit from Australia all year and I can't believe its finally here and I'll get to see him on Friday after two whole years. Its really quite scary how quickly time goes! I'm also going to be another year older on Sunday as its my 24th birthday - I'm really looking forward to spending the weekend with all my family and friends!!

I didn't publish a monthly favourites post last month as I was too busy getting ready for my holiday to Portugal and generally running around like a headless chicken. There also wasn't anything that had particuarly stood out to me and I found myself using the same products most of the time. I only really like to do these posts when there's a few new bits and bobs I've been trying and really enjoying - genuine favourites and not just something to fill a post, if that makes sense? Anyway, that's enough rambling from me, here's a run down of my June favourites ...

Vaseline Spray & Go | Link
This handy spray on moisturiser has been a god send to both me and my boyfriend since we returned from our holiday to Portugal. As I’m sure you’ve heard me mention in the past, I’m a bit lazy when it comes to moisturising my body but this solves that problem as its just so quick and easy to use. Spray, rub in the excess and I’m good to go. It sinks into the skin almost instantly and doesn’t leave any greasy residue behind so I can get dressed straight away after use. It also has the most beautiful scent and the Aloe Vera formula has helped my boyfriend and I prolong our holiday tans. I absolutely love this stuff and if you’re going away on holiday, its well worth buying!

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream | Link
I’ve already wrote a full review about this perfume here so I won’t say too much other than its been my fragrance of choice since receiving it at the start of June and its definitely one to go and sniff while your passing through duty free or when its released nationwide on the 15th July. Other than having the most stunning bottle I’ve ever seen it also has a beautiful delicate, fresh and feminine scent. Its definitely my go-to Summer fragrance!

RapidBrow Eyebrow Enhancing Serum | Link
When I first heard about RapidBrow, I have to say I was dubious. When it comes to brow and lash growth serums, I often think they’re a bit of a con and overpriced. However, that’s probably because when I’ve tried them in the past, I’ve never used them every day and night like you’re supposed to. Now don’t get me wrong, I still think some of them are complete rip offs but RapidBrow has seriously impressed me. I’ve been sticking to the ‘use it every morning and night rule’ for a good few weeks now and I’ve seen a huge difference in my brows. I started using this to help me grow in sparse areas towards the ends of my brows and its definitely helped me achieve that. It’s also made me grow hairs in places they’ve never grown before – even my boyfriend noticed my brows were getting a bit wild! I’m not going to say much more as I intend on doing an in depth review about this in the near future!

Benefit Dream Screen | Link
I was lucky enough to be sent Benefit’s whole skincare range recently and I’ve been really enjoying using all of the products (full review on the whole range coming soon) but the product I’ve been using most over the past month has definitely been their new sunscreen which is very cleverly named ‘Dream Screen’. I took this on holiday with me to protect my face as it has a high SPF of 45+ and it did the job wonderfully. My face didn’t get burnt at all and as well as protecting my skin, it’s also a fantastic daytime moisturiser and made my skin feel lovely and smooth. I loved using it as a moisturiser so much that I’m still using it now I’m home from my holiday as its light enough to be used as a base for makeup and it smells amazing which is always a bonus! I’d definitely recommend picking this up if you’re after a good quality high factor sunscreen that doubles up as a daily moisturiser!

Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara | Link
I’ve been absolutely loving this new mascara from Bourjois and think I may have actually found a mascara I’ll stay loyal to and repurchase. Considering I normally change my mascaras more than my underwear (okay, not quite – slight exaggeration), this is high praise indeed! It really lives up to its volume title as with only one coat this mascara makes my lashes look thick, full and fanned out. If you want to know why I love it in so much in a bit more detail, I actually did a full review here along with some rather impressive before and after photos. Definitely worth popping in your basket next time you’re in Boots!

Eucerin AQUAporin Active Moisturising Cream | Link
I’ve really been loving this Eucerin moisturiser recently as it’s so light and therefore great to wear under makeup but also really moisturising. I used this to moisturise on holiday after long days out in the sun and it made my skin feel very refreshed, soft and plump. It contains Gluco-Glycerol which has been shown to support the natural network of water in the skin and Aquaporin Active which allows essential moisture to be extensively distributed, even in the deeper epidermal skin layers. It’s a fab little moisturiser and great for those of you with combination or sensitive skin!

Rimmel Wake Me Up C0ncealer | Link (currently on sale as ASOS)
Rimmel’s Wake Me Up foundation is one of my favourites so I recently decided to give the concealer a whirl too after reading lots of good reviews about it. I got one of the lightest shades (I believe its ivory) as I like to use a shade or two lighter than my skin tone to brighten my under-eye area and help me achieve that much coveted Kim Kardashian highlight and contour. I’ve used so many drugstore concealers in the past and have always been disappointed (they’ve always been too thick/cakey or lacking in coverage) but this one is great – it has a medium coverage, creamy consistency and it brightens my dark circles nicely. I wouldn’t say it completely covers dark circles and I’m hoping to get the Bobbi Brown corrector to wear underneath this but for brightening, its perfect!

Which products have you been loving lately? Have you tried any of these?

Lots of love,

Hello lovely readers of Kayleigh’s wonderful blog. My name is Jenna and I am a self-confessed makeup and coffee addict. Reading beauty blogs and watching beauty gurus on the old YouTube has been quite a significant part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have been interested in makeup since I was old enough to put the stuff on, and as the years progressed my obsession only grew. Finally, with a little bit of time in my work/school schedule opening up I decided to start my own little space on the internet to share all of my thoughts and opinions on all things beauty related. I am learning so much and meeting so many amazing people (like Kayleigh who is so incredibly talented). I would love to see you at my blog!

Monthly Favourites | April

April beauty favourites 2.jpg.jpg

Another month and another monthly favourites post! I can't quite believe its May already - where is this year going? I know everyone says it but seriously, it only feels like yesterday it was Christmas and now its almost Summer. I haven't had the best time recently - I've been ill and my anxiety has been through the roof so I'm glad April is over so I can focus on feeling better this month. I had my consultation with a hypnotherapist today and I'm feeling really positive about that so fingers crossed it works well for me. Let me know if you've ever had it done or know someone who has! I've also got lots to look forward to at the moment - a holiday to Portugal, my birthday and my dad coming over to the UK from Australia. I'm so excited to see him! I've been doing lots of Summer shopping recently too (see my instagram @kayleighjcouture for the evidence) so expect a few hauls coming your way soon! Anyway, for now, here's the products I've been loving recently ...

Monthly Beauty Favourites, April Beauty Favourites, Beauty Blog Favourites.jpg

Liz Earle Natural Glow Bronzer* | Link
I've been loving this bronzer this month as it adds a beautiful radiance to my skin. I've been using it in combination with my favourite NARS Laguna (NARS to contour and this dusted all over) and it makes the perfect bronzing combo. I like how it has four different bronze shades as they can be used individually or swirled together to create a multi toned glow. I love that it also doubles up as a highlighter as well as giving my skin a sunkissed look. I imagine this will be getting lots of use throughout the Summer months!

Benefit Big Easy* | Link
I've reviewed this product in full here so I won't ramble on about it too much but what I will say is that this product it absolutely perfect for day to day wear as it looks very natural but provides decent coverage a helps to control shine. Don't let the liquid to powder formula put you off as it isn't cakey or too powdery at all. I find this product  is very subtle and undetectable on the skin but still makes it smoother and more radiant.

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm* | Link
I've been using this cleansing balm for the past few weeks now and I'm utterly in love with it. New favourite skincare product alert! I'm going to do a full review of this soon so I'm not going to say too much now other than its absolutely beautiful. The balm texture turns into an oil on contact with the skin and it melts away all my makeup, including heavy liner and mascara, in a matter of seconds. I've been using it in the evenings to remove my daily face and it works an absolute treat. I also love the scent - I feel like I'm having a mini salon facial every time I use it. Keep an eye out for my full review on this.

La Roche Posay Effeclar Duo +* | Link
Another skincare product I've been loving recently is the La Roche Posay Effeclar Duo +. I'd heard so much about this product before I tried it but I never really understood what it was for or how to use it but after a little bit of research I discovered that this product is designed to be used as a daily moisturiser but also as a treatment as well. Its actually designed to help with blemishes and imperfections so it isn't something I'd use all the time but when my skin was having a recent breakout, this product worked a treat at getting my skin back to normal. I also love using this in the mornings as its nice and light for wearing underneath makeup!

Monthly Beauty Favourites, April Beauty Favourites, Beauty Blog Favourites 5.jpg

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick* | Link
I've already reviewed these new Bourjois lipsticks here but let me just tell you again how amazing they are. A lipstick that's applied as a liquid and dried to a matte but comfortable finish. The pigmentation is absolutely amazing and they have brilliant staying power too. They can be worn on their own matte or topped with a favourite lipgloss to add a bit of shine! I'm totally impressed - they're definitely my new favourite lip product and I haven't felt the need to use anything else since I got my mitts on them.

Monthly Beauty Favourites, April Beauty Favourites, Beauty Blog Favourites 3.jpg

No 7 Instant Radiance Highlighter* | Link
I'm going to do a full review on this product soon as I absolutely love it and have barely used any other highlighter since I bought it. Unlike traditional powder highlighters that are applied with a brush - this No.7 Instant Radiance highlighter is packaged in a twist-up stick form and can be applied directly onto the skin wherever needed and blended in with fingers. I've been applying it to the tops of my cheekbones and down the centre of my nose and it works a treat at making my skin look glowing and healthy. The shade is perfect for my skin tone too - a champagne with hints of pink and silver. I find it very easy to blend, it doesn't interfere with my foundation/powder and it looks very natural too. It doesn't contain any glitter and instead the finish is a lovely sheen.

Monthly Beauty Favourites, April Beauty Favourites, Beauty Blog Favourites 8.jpg

Yves Rocher Volume Vertige Mascara* | Link
Okay so I'm utterly rubbish at describing mascaras but this one has definitely been my favourite lately. It has a fat plastic wand and provides my lashes with tonnes of volume. Its super black and makes my lashes looks 10x longer and thicker without being clumpy or flaky. I absolutely love the silver packaging too - so sleek and sophisticated!

Monthly Beauty Favourites, April Beauty Favourites, Beauty Blog Favourites 4.jpg

Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning* | Link
Summer is creeping up on us very quickly and that means its nearly time to bare some flesh and wear the Summer clothes that have been sat unloved in our wardrobes for the past six months. Now before I even think about bringing out my Summer wardrobe, one thing I desperately need is a tan. I'm a total casper naturally and without a bit of fake tan or a natural holiday glow, I risk looking a bit drained and wishy washy. However, fear not as the Clarins Liquid Bronze is my best friend at this time of year. Before I discovered this product I really struggled to tan my face, neck and chest area without it going streaky, too orange or noticeably fake looking. However, this clever white lotion has solved all my tanning mishaps and allowed me to have tanned skin that looks natural and glowing - its like a holiday tan in a bottle. I apply it to my skin morning and night when I want to give myself a bit of a tan and within a couple of days its given me a lovely sunkissed glow. I can't rave about it enough!

Which products have you been loving this month? Have you tried any of these products?

Lots of love,
