The NYE Getting Ready Routine

New Years Eve 2014, 2015, New Years Eve Get Ready With Me, Night Out Routine, Getting Ready For A Night Out Routine, Get Ready With Me Routine
I don't know about you but before a big night out, I have my get ready routine meticulously planned. Everything from what time I'll get a bath. when I'll paint my nails and which lipstick I'm going to wear is pre planned! I'm not sure why I do this but I've always been the same - I think having a step by step routine helps keep me calm whilst getting ready as everything is in its place ready to be used and it prevents me from turning my room upside down looking for things. Or maybe I'm just a bit of a control freak and like everything to be 'just right'. I'll let you decide!

With this being said, it gave me the idea for this post - my New Years Eve getting ready routine. I tend to do this routine for most nights out but with NYE being an extra special night, I got all the products I'll be using together and took some photos so you can have a sneak peek at what I'll be pampering and beautifying myself with this evening. Looking at these photos, it looks like a LOT of products and I didn't quite realise just how many I used but they all serve a purpose for making me feel my best before a big night out. Enjoy!

Step 1: The Bath
SThe first thing I like to do before my night out is run myself a nice hot bath with a Lush bath bomb. This just makes my bath more fun and luxurious so I can have a relaxing soak and pamper myself! Before getting in the bath I'll apply the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer to my hair which is a pre shampoo treatment and brilliant for making my hair more manageable, smooth and shiny! Whilst in the bath, I'll wash my hair with my trusty Touch of Silver Twice A Week Brightening Shampoo and the Paul Mitchell 'The Detangler' Conditioner* to brighten my colour and make my my hair more manageable. I'll then pop on a face and hair mask and leave them to do their magic whilst doing the usual bath time things such as shaving and having a wash. Ew! The two masks I plan to use tonight are the Rodial Super Acids Extreme Hangover mask* and although I'll more than likely need it to cute tomorrow's hangover, I'm using it tonight to make my skin look radiant. As the name suggests, it contains acids that will help remove any dead skin cells or dry patches and ensure my makeup goes on smoothly. The hair mask I intend on using is one I got in a set for Christmas - the John Freida Sheer Blonde Conditioning Treatment! When that's all done and I've chilled, its time to get out ...

Step 2: Tanning
Once out of the bath, I like to apply a bit of false tan so I don't look too pasty on my night out! The tan I've been loving at the moment is the ModelCo Dark Instant Tanning Mousse* - it provides instant colour, smells lovely and is very natural looking. I don't like to go too overboard with tan so one coat is usually enough. I sometimes apply this the night before too!

Step 3: Nails
When the tan is on, its time for nails. I usually do my toes first and tonight I'm planning to use Victoria from Nails Inc which is a lovely deep purple and I might add Piccadilly Place which is a silver glitter on top. It is NYE after all - sparkle is allowed! I've also got some ImPRESS nails in the shade 'Rated R', a lovely deep burgundy shade which I intend to wear on my fingers. I probably won't apply these until I've done my makeup though because knowing my luck, they'll pop straight off!

Step 4: Skincare
Before applying my makeup, I like to thoroughly prep my skin for makeup so I start by giving my lips a scrub with a Lush lip scrub* to remove any dry skin. I then apply my Elemis Advanced Brightening Even Tone Serum* and Pro-Collagen Ultra Rich Moisturiser* which I find work perfectly together to plump up my skin and provide a smooth base for my makeup! To finish, I pop on some of my Rodial Glam Balm Lip Balm* which is a current fave!

Step 5: The Music
Yes, that's right, a very important part of my getting ready routine is the accompanying soundtrack. Don't lie and tell me you don't dance around your room to the likes of Taylor Swift and One Direction too? Guilty! In all seriousness though, my favourite music always gets me in the mood to party!

Step 6: The Makeup
Now my skin is all prepped, its time for makeup! I like to take my time doing my makeup before a night out and I usually add in extra steps that I wouldn't for a day to day look such as primer, contouring and false lashes. I'm not going to go through my whole makeup routine as that's another post entirely but here's a few of the products I'll be using tonight. I like to kick things off with my Benefit Porefessional Primer* so I've got a smooth and even base for my foundation and it also helps my makeup stay in place all night. My go-to foundation at the moment is the Bourjois Healthy Mix as it provides my skin with a beautiful glow and a flawless finish. I like to use my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder to set my base in place and then I'll be using my new NARS Virtual Domination cheek palette for bronze and blush. I also like to use MAC Harmony Blush before a night out to add some extra definition to my cheekbones. I finish my base off by adding the Bobbi Brown Pink Glow Highlighter * to the tops of my cheekbones - this is such a beautiful product! I like to wear my favourite Lord & Berry Polish Eye Liner* to add some definition to my eyes, as well as my favourite The Vintage Cosmetic Company 'Gracie' Lashes for a glamorous look. The lip duo I'm going for tonight are MAC Soar Lip Liner and MAC Brave lipstick - a very Kylie Jenner 90's combo!

Step 7: The Hair
I totally forgot to take a photo of all the hair bits I use but I like to start by running Moroccan Oil through the mid to end lengths of my hair and spritzing the Clynol Wonder 10 Treatment Spray* all over to keep it protected from heat. I then blast my hair upside down with my hairdryer to create volume and then lift it at the roots with my ghd barrel brush. When its completely dry, I pop in my HK Quad Weft Hair Piece from Dirty Looks which adds a bit of volume to my own hair as its the same length! After that I like to spray it with heat protector again and then add some soft curls to the bottoms with my ghd Eclipse Straighteners*. I then like to spritz is with some Charles Worthington Texturising Spray to give it a bit more texture and volume!

Step 8: The Outfit
After I've pampered and preened myself, its time to put on my outfit! Tonight I'm wearing this absolutely stunning dress from Miss Selfridge which I picked up in the sales. It was reduced from £99 to £30 which is a serious bargain (find it here)! I think its the perfect New Years Eve dress - if NYE isn't a good enough excuse to wear a bit of sparkle, what is? I also love the 1930's feel of it and that its very elegant and ladylike. I'm going out to a nice restaurant with my boyfriend and two of our friends tonight so I didn't want anything too short or revealing! I plan to pair it with the cute black box clutch photographed above which my mum got me for Christmas and a pair of simple black courts. I'm sure there'll be some full length pictures on my instagram @kayleighjcouture later this evening so keep an eye out if you want to see how it looks on!

Step 9: The Finishing Touches
So now I've got my tan, hair, makeup and nails looking fab, its time for the finishing touches! As my dress is a statement piece, I'm keeping it very simple with jewellery and sticking to my Daniel Wellington Sheffield watch and Pandora Mother of Pearl ring. I then like to add some Vitamin E Shimmer Body Lotion to my arms and legs to add a nice sheen, spritz my hair with the Orofluido Shine Spray and finally a spritz of my favourite perfume! Chloe is photographed here but I'll be wearing my new Yohji Yamamoto her Love Story perfume which i got for Christmas from my Nanna as its my new fave!

New Years Eve 2014, 2015, New Years Eve Get Ready With Me, Night Out Routine, Getting Ready For A Night Out Routine, Get Ready With Me Routine
Step 10: Clutch Bag Packing
Before I can leave the door for my night out, there's one last thing I need to do and that's pack my clutch bag full of essentials ready for the night ahead! Phone, money and ID - check! Makeup for touch ups - check! Mini hairspray - check! Mini perfume - check! I think that's everything I need, right?

New Years Eve 2014, 2015, New Years Eve Get Ready With Me, Night Out Routine, Getting Ready For A Night Out Routine, Get Ready With Me Routine
Step 11: PARTY!!!!!!!!
Now all that's left to do is crack open the bubbly and have a good old night! Woo!!

I hope you all enjoyed seeing my night out get ready routine! I know it might seem a bit extreme to some but for me, the whole process of getting ready is all part of the fun and its the one time I really get to give myself a good old pamper so I'm feeling and looking my best. I am a beauty blogger after all, did you really expect anything less?

Whatever you're doing tonight, I hope you al have a wonderful New Years Eve and an even better New Year! Here's to 2015!

Lots of love,

For now, here are my lovely December advertisers! I hope you've enjoyed seeing them over in my sidebar this past month and have popped over to say hi to them all! If not, keep reading to find out a bit more about them and start the new year with some new reading material ...

What I Got For Christmas 2014

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I loved every minute of it although I can't quite believe its all over for another year. There's always such a build up to that one day and then its over in what feels like the blink of an eye. Boo! However, one thing I have been enjoying over the past couple of days is reading everyones 'what I got for Christmas' posts. I know some people don't like them but for me personally, I love being nosy and seeing what other people got as it gives me ideas for things I can hunt out in the January sales.

I've done one of these posts for the past couple of years now and they're always very popular so I thought I'd keep up the tradition and do another one this year. As always, I just want to say I'm by no means bragging by writing this post and I'm very grateful for all the lovely gifts I received. I do have a big family and a boyfriend/his family who also buy for me so please bare that in mind too.

Also, as these were gifts, I'm not going to include links to everything as I usually would in blog posts as I don't feel comfortable going online to find out the price of gifts I received. However, as I did pick some of the below myself and already know the price, I'll pop links to those where I can. So now that little disclaimer is out of the way, here's the lovely gifts I received this year ...

iMac Computer
Yes I know, what an amazing gift! My boyfriend and I said we were 'sticking to a budget' this year and although we usually do always get a bit carried away with ourselves, never in a million years did I expect to receive such a generous gift. I'd been complaining about to my boyfriend about our current laptop for months as it was taking me such a long time to edit blog photos and would constantly get jammed which would result in me having to turn the whole thing off and on repeatedly. Not ideal! I was actually planning to get myself a new laptop or IMac in the new year and pay it off monthly but my lovely boyfriend beat me to it! I actually shed a tear when I saw it as it will make blogging 10x easier for me and I was just blown away by how thoughtful he'd been. Thank you Matt!

Beauty Products
As a beauty blogger, you can image how excited I get when some of my favourite brands release stunning limited edition collections or new products at this time of year. Although I do have a LOT of beauty products already, Christmas is always a great excuse for me to add some new bits and bobs to my wish list. This year I was lucky enough to receive two items from the NARS Christmas collection - the Virtual Domination cheek palette and Digital World lip pencil set and both are absolutely gorgeous! I also received the new Urban Decay Naked On The Run palette and Naked Illuminated Powder as well as MAC Brave lipstick and Soar lip liner (total Kylie Jenner combo). I also got some super cute Ted Baker beauty bits and some new lash curlers! Expect full reviews on these goodies very soon!

Lush Christmas Bathtime Favourites Gift Set
As I've previously mentioned on my blog, I've become a huge fan of Lush products in recent months so I was chuffed to bits to receive this bath time favourites gift set from my sister! It includes a mixture of 10 bath bombs - some of Lush's bestsellers and some festive ones such as Father Christmas too! What a great excuse to relax in the bath!

Breville Blend Active (Link)
As the iMac from my boyfriend was a total surprise, we'd already picked a few presents off each other within the budget we'd set and one of the things I chose was this Breville Blend Active blender. I've always wanted a smoothie maker but it isn't something I'd buy for myself so I thought Christmas was a great time to get one, especially as I'll be wanting to get back to eating healthily in the new year. I originally wanted to get the NutriBullet but its heft price tag always put me off so when I heard about the Breville Blend Active, which is virtually the same with its blend and go design, I knew I had to give it a try. I'll report back on this and let you know how I get on with it!

Bath & Body / Fragrance Bits
Again, as a beauty blogger, my family know they can't go too far wrong with anything that I can pamper myself with! My boyriends mum and dad got me this gorgeous Molton Brown gift set in the scent Rhubard & Rose (so yummy!) and my nanna bought the the Yohji Yamamoto 'Her Love Story' perfume (currently on sale here) which has fast become my new favourite. I actually picked this myself as I fell in love with it after receiving a sample in an online order. When we went to buy it from Selfridges, the girl who served us said its a bit of a hidden gem so be sure to have a sniff next time you're passing by! My auntie bought me one of the Next perfumes which smells amazing and is ideal for popping in my handbag or taking on a night out! All the other bits and pieces photographed here were stocking fillers from my mum - two Nspa gift sets, a gorgeous soap, a nivea lip balm set and a cut Next Cashmere set which came with a mini candle, body lotion and roll on perfume.

Candles
I'm a complete candle addict and most of my family know it so I've been well and truly stocked up on new candles to pop around my flat! The three round tin candles were in my stocking from my mum and they all smell absolutely gorgeous. They're all from Matalan and are relatively cheap so I'd recommend checking those out if you're a candle fan. The little Wax Lyrical candle in the scent 'soft cotton' was from my Nanna as she knows how much I love fresh cotton / linen scents and the Bayliss and Harding candle is from my boyfriends mum and dad and again, it smells gorgeous! I can't wait to start burning them all.

Next boots
My main present from my mum this year are these gorgeous thigh high boots from Next. I'm really into over the knee boots at the moment as they're ideal for throwing on with a pair of jeans and a jumper or with a shift dress! I love these ones as they only have a small heel so they're great for every day wear! I imagine I'll be getting a lot of wear out of these over the next few months!

 Black Ankle Boots (Link)
These were another present from my boyfriend as all of my black ankle boots are falling apart as I live in them at this time of year. I actually got these from work so with my staff discount they were super cheap! Again, I'll be getting lots of wear out of these over the next few months as they'll go with any outfit!

Accessories
My mum knows how much I love Matalan's accessories so she always gets me some gorgeous bits to go in my stocking as they're really affordable but look pretty identical to the kind of stuff you'd find it Topshop! She got me a gorgeous black clutch which I plan to use on New Year's Eve, a black statement necklace, a dainty gold coins necklace and a black choker. I love them all! The stunning Swarovski bracelet is from my two little brothers and I love it. Its quite a statement piece so not something I'd wear every day but for an evening out, it'll look fab!

Dvds, Katie Piper Book & Diary
I always get dvd's in my stocking and this year I got Begin Again, Date Night, Dodgeball and The Great Gatsby (hello Leo)! I can't wait to have some cosy nights in watching those. I also got Katie Piper's book 'Beautiful Ever After' which I'm very excited to read it. Katie is such an inspirational girl who has been through so much so it'll be a really interesting read. I also got a new 2015 diary - I love the pretty purple and pink floral print!

PJ's, Underwear & Slippers
If you knew me personally, you'd know that one of my favourite things in life is being cosy. Yes, I am a bit of a grandma but I just love snuggling up in a pair of pyjamas, slippers and my dressing gown! With this being said, I was chuffed to bits to receive some new pj's, slipper boots and cosy socks. I also received a new dressing gown from my auntie but it was too big and bulky to photograph! Something less grannyish is the stunning underwear set I received in my stocking - how pretty is that nude and grey colour combo?

Clothes
I was lucky enough to receive a selection of clothes this year - some of which I'd picked myself and other bits I wasn't expecting. I got some black Topshop Jamie jeans, a sparkly dress from AX Paris which is a contender for New Year's Eve, a cute tartan shift dress, a cropped jumper from AX Paris and a big slouchy cable knit jumper from H&M.  I also got a checked shirt which I didn't photograph as its always been worn! My boyfriend and mum did good!

Hair Gift Sets
My mum bought me two lovely hair gift sets this year - John Freida 'For the Blonde Bombshell' which contains cute little minis for blondes and the Loreal Elnett 'Handbag Essentials' set which contains two mini hairsprays and a Loreal Telescopic mascara. Lovely!

Champagne, Sweets & Chocolates
Well, Christmas wouldn't be complete without these, would it? I can't wait to pop open the champagne on NYE!

As you can see, I received so many lovely gifts and feel like the luckiest gift in the world. My boyfriends brother also got us a gift card for the Alchemist bar and restaurant in Manchester so my boyfriend and I can enjoy a night out together. That should certainly help with the January blues!

What did you get for Christmas? Do you have any of these products?

Lots of love,

Wonderful Christmas Tag

Happy Christmas Eve everybody! I hope you're all very excited for the big day tomorrow - I know I certainly am! Now we're merely hours away from the big day I thought it'd be only right to do a Christmas themed post so here I am with the Wonderful Christmas tag. The tag has questions about all things Christmas and I had so much fun answering them! I hope you enjoy getting to know a bit more about me and my Christmas traditions ...

1. On a scale of 1-10 how much are you in the Christmas mood?

Well, considering its Christmas Eve, I'm a solid 9 on the excitement scale! HAHA!

2. When wrapping presents is it a fail or are you a pro?

I'd say I'm more of a pro than a fail as I absolutely LOVE wrapping presents and making them look pretty with bows and ribbon. I think I take after my mum as she's always been an avid present wrapper. I'm not quite as good as her yet though!

3. When did you put your Christmas decorations up and do you do anything special while putting them up?
I always put my tree and decorations up the first weekend in December and I usually like to wear my pyjamas, listen to Christmas music and have some kind of festive drink. Doesn't everyone do that though?

4. Do you get dressed up or stay in your pjs on Christmas day?
We always open our presents in our pyjamas but its always been a tradition in my family to get dressed up for Christmas dinner. Despite not leaving the house much on Christmas Day, we all like to wear new outfits and make a big effort to look our best.

5. What would be your dream place to go during the Christmas season?
I don't have a dream Christmas destination as I'm very much a home girl at this time of year. Well, all year round actually. As much as I love holidays, I love being at home in the UK at this time of year when its cold and all the decorations are up. However, if I were to go anywhere at Christmas time it would be Australia so I could spend the day with my dad, step mum and two little brothers!

6. What is your Christmas tree decorated like?
My Christmas tree is one of those where it looks like it has snow on it which I just LOVE and its covered white lights and silver and gold baubles. I think this colour combo looks really classy and sophisticated so its been this way for a few years now!

7. Can you name all of Santa's Reindeers? ( without googling )
Oh gosh - other than Rudolph, I'm struggling. However, I know when I google it they'll all come back to me straight away and I'll feel silly. *goes to google* - damn, I was going to say Dancer and Prancer but wasn't 100% sure!

8. Are you on the naughty list or the nice list this year? ( be honest )
I'd say I'm on the nice list every year. I'd like to think I'm a nice and caring person so hopefully I'll never be on the naughty list!

9. Name three things you love to do coming up to Christmas?
1. Put up my Christmas decorations
2. Visit the Christmas markets
3. Watch Christmas movies

10. Any Christmas Wishes?
For my family and friends to be happy and healthy - that's all I could ever want not just at Christmas time but all year round.

11. Name 10 Christmas songs you love?
Wow, I can't even think of 10 but here's a few faves ...

1. All I Want For Chrsitmas Is You
2. Fairytale of New York
3. Last Christmas
4. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
5. Last Christmas

12. Name 3 Christmas movies you love?
1. Home Alone
2. The Santa Clause
3. The Holiday

13. Do you like white lights or coloured?
White - they look more classy and magical!

14. Which do you like a little better, Christmas day or Christmas eve?
I love them both equally. I love Christmas Eve as its always so exciting and we usually watch a Christmas film as a family but I also love Christmas Day as I get to spend it surrounded by my loved ones exchanging gifts and eating yummy food!

15. What is your favourtie Christmas make-up look to wear?
I usually go for a gold and brown smokey eye with a touch of sparkle, cat eye flicks and a bold red lip. Red lips are a must at Christmas right?

16. Right now as your answering these questions, how long is it till Christmas?
Christmas is TOMORROW! Yep, that excitement scale is going off!

17. Do you have any presents that you open on Christmas eve?
Other than some pyjamas my mum buys my sister and I every year, we save all of our present opening until Christmas Day.

18. Name three things on your Christmas list?
1. NARS Virtual Domination cheek palette
2. MAC Brave lipstick
3. A new dressing gown

19. Your having a down day, Your not in the Christmas mood. What do you do to change your mood and become Christmas happy?
Listen to Christmas music, surround myself with my loved ones and then snuggle down to watch a feel good Christmas film!

20. What is the best thing on your plate when you have your Christmas dinner?
Most people will say pigs in blankets and although I do love them, its all about the Turkey and stuffing for me. I'm obsessed!

I hope you enjoyed this tag and learnt a little bit more about me. I'd also like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas for tomorrow! I have you have a wonderful day full of love, laughter and Christmas cheer!

Lots of love,

Christmas & Thank You Urban Decay Giveaway

Hi guys! So today I have a very exciting post for you all - my Urban Decay Christmas and thank you giveaway! I've been LOVING Urban Decay products at the moment, especially their NAKED Basics palettes so I thought I'd give you guys the chance to win both palettes, their new 'On The Run' palette (I bought two of these - one for me as a Christmas present from my mum and one for the giveaway haha) and their Sin Primer potion to ensure all your new shadows stay perfectly in place. I originally wanted to get it up earlier in the month so the winner could have these goodies in time for Christmas but unfortunately the Urban Decay 'On the Run' palette took longer than expected to arrive due to all the cyber weekend madness. Anyway, I decided I still wanted this to be a Christmas giveaway - it just means the winner will now get the prizes in the new year instead. To be fair, January is usually a pretty dull month so hopefully this giveaway will brighten someones January blues!

The reason I'm doing this giveaway is because I want to say a HUGE thank you to each and every one of you who have continued to support my blog throughout 2014. A couple of months ago I hit 15,000 followers on Bloglovin and was completely blown away - the fact that many people follow me and read what I have to say is quite mind boggling but very flattering at the same time. I truly appreciate every comment, tweet or email I receive from you guys and all the fantastic opportunities that have come my way from my blog so this is just my way of saying thank you and Merry Christmas!

To enter, all you need to do is follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter widget below. The only compulsory entries are that you must be following my blog via Bloglovin, comment below and be following me on Twitter. All other entries are extras and can be done to increase your chances of winning! The giveaway is open internationally and ends on 15th January which is just over 3 weeks away!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Lots of love,

The Basics palettes photographed are my own which is why they look slightly used. However, I can assure you the winner will receive brand new palettes. :)
