Topshop Highlighter | Crescent Moon

Topshop Crescent Moon Highlighter - £10 - Link.

Hi Ladies! If you read my blog regularly you will probably know that I am a huge fan of Topshop and their lipsticks. I currently have six and love everything about them from the packaging to the formula. However, other than the nail polishes, I've never branched out and tried any of the other products Topshop have to offer. I've always loved the look of their cream blushes and 'Sunbeam' highlighter but being the lipstick addict that I am, I usually opt for a new lippie whenever I am browing the makeup stand.

With this being said, when I found myself with a £10 Topshop voucher a couple of weeks ago I thought it was the perfect opportunity to treat myself to something other than a lipstick. Lets face it, I think I have enough to last me a life time now.
So as I was browsing the makeup stands I was contemplating buying something from the new Louse Grey collection but then I spotted this shimmery pot of prettiness and instantly had to get my mitts on it. At first glance it looked absolutely beautiful and it wasn't a product I'd seen in Topshop on my previous visits. After a bit of swatching (as you do) I instantly fell in love with this highlighter named 'Crescent Moon'. I'm pretty sure it's part of their new collection as other than 'Sunbeam', I wasn't aware Topshop had released any other highlighters.

I've always been a big fan of highlighters as they are perfect for adding a glow to my skin and enhancing my best features. I've been meaning to repurchase MAC's 'Soft and Gentle'  Skinfinish for a while now but due to its hefty price tag and my measly bank balance, I just can't justify it. So when I spotted 'Crescent Moon' and discovered that its actually very similar to my beloved S&G, I just couldn't resist the bargain. The dome shaped powder is a beautiful peach shade with subtle pink undertones and it is perfect for my skin tone. I also love that it has an iridescent/metallic finish instead of adding unflattering chunks of shimmer. I find  it adds a lovely dimension to my otherwise matte foundation, bronzer and powder. I attempted to take some photos of myself wearing it but it wasn't easy trying to get a flattering photo of my cheek so I've had to show the effect this product gives swatched on my hand instead. Sorry about that guys, I know its always better to see it on my actual face.

Before I bring this post to an end I'd also like to point out that I absolutely adore the packaging too. As with all Topshop makeup it has a black and white theme but instead of the usual stripes and spots, this has cute little stars. AmazingFor £10, I can't recommed this product enough. I think it would work well with any skin tone and as I only need a light dab on my brush each time I use it, it will last me a very long time. I image it will sell out pretty fast so if you want it I'd be quick! Go, go, go!

Do you use a highlighter? Whats your favourite?

Lots of Love,

Amazing Advertisers | October

Hey Ladies! So you may be aware that I am now offering advertising spaces on my blog. I decided to offer advertising whilst I was unemployed and completely strapped for cash. I mean lets face it, a blog is an expensive thing to run as us beauty bloggers always want/need to try the latest beauty products. As well as helping me out a little bit it also gives you, the readers of my blog the chance to get your blog or shop a little bit of exposure which is never a bad thing.

As part of my 'exclusive' and 'large' advertising packages, I have decided to write a post like this towards the end of each month that will give my lovely advertisers the chance to tell you a little bit about themselves and their blog/shop. October has been my first month of advertising and I have had a few ladies over in my sidebar for the past month that would like to tell you a little bit more about themselves. I have really enjoyed reading their blogs or browsing their shops and I hope you will too.

Rebecca - Serenity Jewels
Serenity Jewels is a fresh, new & on trend jewellery brand that designs gorgeous statement jewellery for both guys & girls. Designed Becky Jacobs, each piece is handcrafted using Semi Precious gemstones, freshwater pearls & Swarovski elements.

From every day bracelet stacks to Saturday night sparkle pieces, Serenity Jewels offers jewellery for every occasion, outfit & mood.

So a little about the designer… I’m basically a fashion crazy, beauty obsessed, lover of anything girly!! Vogue is my bible & Carrie Bradshaw my god ;-) I started hand crafting my own designs because I couldn’t find what I wanted on the high street for a special night out! My other half thought if I made my own pieces I’d stop spending so much on the high street… how wrong was he?! I now love nothing more than sourcing new semi precious beads & charms from all over the world.  I don’t think my postman is quite as enthusiastic about all the deliveries!

Over the past few months i’ve been humbled by the reaction Serenity Jewels has had, I love nothing more than sending out items to guys & gals and seeing people wear my items. It’s such an amazingly surreal feeling !

Kayleigh - Three Black Crowns

I’m Kayleigh/Kay, a 22 year old English & journalism graduate from the UK. I started my fashion and lifestyle blog ‘Three Black Crowns’ as a way of being able to continuously write and not lose touch with the skills I learnt during uni, but also because its something I really enjoy.

A lot of my friends aren’t really into fashion and beauty and I’m not even sure if they know what blogs are aha, so it’s great to be able to discuss the things that I love with other likeminded bloggers. My posts usually consist of clothing hauls, product reviews, my week in photos, outfit posts, wish lists and anything that I’m really loving or doing and think others would appreciate. The things I tend to buy vary in price, so I like to think there’s something for everyone.

Most of my clothes will be from the high street and then I have the odd designer accessory too. I’m also really into interior items and have a mild obsession with anything with a stag or skull on. Even though the majority of my photos wont involve me smiling, I am friendly and love a good chat, so please feel free to ask me anything, anytime.

You can find my blog here - http://threeblackcrowns.blogspot.co.uk/ and I'm also on Twitter @Threeblackcrown.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit more about my October advertisers and I really recommend you go and check out all of their blogs/shops as they are all great. I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them over this past month and I'd like to thank them all for choosing to advertise with me. I hope the experience has been a good one for them.

If you are interested in advertising with me in November and would like to see your blog or shop featured on this post next month, you can check out my advertising prices here and email me at kljohnson1990@gmail.com to secure yourself a place.

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

My Top Five A/W Nail Polishes & Some Good News, YEY!

Hi Ladies! I hope you are all well. How cold has it been all week? I am actually freezing and have resorted to sticking the heating on for the first time in months, NOOO! It even started snowing here in Newcastle last night, not impressed. Anyway, other than the temperatures getting hideously low I'm having a super duper week. On Monday I got a lovely phone call informing me that I've landed myself a job, yey! I'm going to be working at a company in Newcastle doing Research and Marketing and so far its going really well. I've only done three days so far but the people are all really friendly and it's a nice laid back work environment which is always a bonus. I'm feeling so relieved to have a job again as since I got back from Australia last month my days have been spent sending application after application to various companies and I have been nothing but stressed about my lack of money and finding a job. It was an awful feeling when I received those 'sorry you have been unsuccessful' emails but now I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can finally get back into the swing of things. I'm already looking forward to treating myself when pay day comes around and I'm sure there will be more 'hauls' coming your way in the near future.
So now your updated with my life (you probably don't even care ha), I will get back to the main focus of this blog post.

I thought I would share with you my top nail polishes for the Autumn and Winter months as I always tend to go for certain shades when the cold weather arrives. In Summer I was all about the brights and neons but I find metallics and darker shades are more appropriate for the winter months. Does anyone else find they change their makeup/nails to fit with the seasons? Maybe its just me but it's always a good excuse to go and buy some new makeup and nail polishes I say ;). I've picked my top five 'wintery' shades that I tend to reach for the most and want to share with you why I love them so much, yey!

H&M - Wawawoon

I bought this nail polish whilst browsing in H&M last winter and at this point I didn't even realise they sold nail polishes. After having a browse I decided to pick one up as they were very reasonably priced at only £1.99 each. I opted for the shade 'Wawawoom' as I'm a sucker for anything gold and metallic. Metallics are always a big trend at this time of the year and I have to say, I love them. Theres nothing nicer than super shiny metallic nails. If you want to try a couple without breaking the bank, get yourselves down to H&M to try these beauties.

Rimmel Pro - Desire

This nail polish is beautiful, that's the only way I can describe it. The shade is a lovely mix of berry red and purple and this is one I reach for a LOT in winter. As well as loving the high shine finish, the brush is absolutely amazing. I'm not usually one to get excited over nail polish brushes but this one is really thick and with only two swipes of my nails I have perfect even coverage. I don't see this particular range of polishes featured on many blogs but I urge you all to give them a go as the quality and application is second to none.

Barry M - Grey

Good old Barry M, who doesn't love their nail polishes? I have a LOT of these nail polishes but 'Grey' is one I only tend to wear when A/W comes around. Although the name is slightly dull and boring, the polish itself is really lovely. Theres something about the colour grey that I associate with the cold weather so this nail polish is perfect for this time of the year.

Topshop - Grunge

As I'm sure you're all aware by now, I love Topshop nail polishes. My collection of them is growing by the minute as the application and colour range is fabulous. I particularly love this one I picked up last winter from a limited edition range as the shade is really unique. Its another metallic polish with hints of green and gold that changes colour when it hits the light. Multi-tone and metallic? Winner.

Barry M - Mushroom

Okay so this has to be up there with my ultimate nail polishes. Barry M 'Mushroom' is the most perfect nude nail polish I have ever come across. Not only does it look amazing all year round but it makes me feel very classy and ladylike every time I wear it. I love it so much in fact that I dedicated a blog post to it here and have included it in my 2000 followers giveaway here. If you don't have this polish in your collection, go get it, NOW!

So there we have it guys, my top nail polish picks for the Autumn and Winter months. As you can see none of them are really expensive with most of them being less than £5.00. I don't really own many high-end nail polishes as there are so many nice ones of the high-street.

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend and enjoy your Saturday night.

What are your favourite shades to wear this time of year?

Lots of Love,

Tag | Why Do You Wear Makeup

Image: Weheartit (Edited by Me)

Hey Ladies! I've seen this 'Why Do I Wear Makeup' tag flying around on a few of my favourite blogs lately so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and join in. I always love to do tags as I find them really interesting to read and it's a great way to get to know the writer behind the blog. There are four questions to answer in this particular tag (I wish there was more!) and I tag all of you to do it. Talking of tags, I actually created my own a few months ago called 'Blogging Love'. You can have a read of it here and join in if you like the concept. Don't forget to comment with the link to your post or tweet me if you do it as I'd love to read your answers. So without me blabbering on anymore, I'm going to get straight into the tag.

1. When did you begin loving make-up? My love for makeup began way back when I was a little girl. My mum has always been the kind of lady that likes to take care of her appearance and as a little girl I remember watching her applying makeup. I used to sneakily put some lipstick on and try on her high heels when she wasn't watching. We all did this right?
When I was approaching my teen years I went through a bit of a tomboy stage so my fascination with makeup slowly dwindled until I got to year 8 (second year of high school). I was around 13/14 when I started to get back into it again so I started wearing a teeny bit of mascara and clear lip gloss.
By the time I was 15 I was back in a full blown love affair with makeup and I began experimenting with bronzer, eyeshadows and eyeliner. I went through an awful stage of wearing black eyeshadow which looking back was a big NO-NO. Ever since then my love and taste in makeup has grown and developed. I began experimenting in high-end brands when I turned 18 and ever since theres been no looking back. Hello MAC lipsticks! 8)

2. How do you feel without make-up? I'm going to be honest - bloody awful! I mean I don't look that much different without it and I've always been lucky to have clear skin but I'm not the most confident person when it comes to my appearance and I'm very overly critical of myself. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable going out in a social environment without my makeup but when I'm chilling in my flat I don't wear a scrap. However, if I'm leaving my flat, even just to pop to the shops, I have to pop some makeup on. I think it's a bit of a comfort blanket for me and it gives me a little bit more confidence. On a day to day basis I don't wear a lot of makeup as I like to keep it looking natural but I will go more dramatic on a night out with false lashes and a bright lip.

3. What do you like about make-up? I love makeup because it can really help to enhance my natural features. I can use a foundation to make my skin look clear and glowy or an eyeliner to make my eyes stand out. I also love the actual application of makeup and seeing a look come together. I enjoy experimenting with different eye looks or wearing a bright lip and I get just as excited about wearing a new lipstick as I do about wearing a new dress. For me makeup is exciting, fun and something that women should embrace.

4. Three 'Holy Grail' items - Oh how on earth do I pick just three?!

NARS Laguna Bronzer - I've reviewed this on my blog here and I can't even describe how much I love this bronzer. It adds a subtle glow to my skin and is a lovely natural tan colour.

Urban Decay NAKED Palette - I have both of the Naked palettes and have reviewed and compared them both here. I just had to include them as a Holy Grail item as they contain every eyeshadow I'd ever need. Of course I own other eyeshadows because I'm a makeup addict but if I'm travelling or in a rush I know I can grab this palette and create a range of different looks.

MAC 'Feline' Eye Liner - Eyeliner is and always has been an essential beauty product in my daily makeup routine. I love the way it makes my blue eyes stand out and I instantly feel more confident when I'm wearing it. I have reviewed this one from MAC here if you want to know why I love it.

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers and don't forget to leave your link below if you decide to do this or my 'Blogging Love' tag. I look forward to reading your answers!

Lots of Love,

Filling in my Eyebrows | Benefit Brow Zings

Hi Ladies! I hope you are all having a great week so far. I've been so bored applying for jobs and watching crappy daytime TV all week. Boo! I swear blogging has been the only thing to keep me sane in my unemployment so thanks for commenting on my posts and cheering me up guys, it means a lot to me. Anyway, I won't depress you anymore and I'll move on to the good stuff - Eyebrows, yey! I've been asked quite a lot about my eyebrows lately and what I use on them so I've decided to put together a little post about my eyebrow 'history', how I got them into shape and how I fill them in.

I don't know if it's just me but eyebrows are one of the first things I notice when I look at people. I really believe that well groomed and defined eyebrows can make so much difference to our overall appearance. It can also take years off you if you are an older lady as a clean arch can actually act as a mini face lift without the surgery. It wasn't until around two years ago when eyebrows became a beauty focal point that I began getting them waxed professionally and using products on them. Up until then I had completely over plucked them myself and left them au natural. As you can see from my photo above, in 2010 my brows looked a sorry state of affairs. They are very thin from over plucking, sparse and generally not attractive. However, compare them with the 2012 photo and you can see that they have dramatically improved. This is thanks to me leaving them alone to grow, paying for a 'HD Brows' treatment and using some clever beauty products to fill them in.

If you have never had or heard of the 'HD Brows' treatment then I can't recommend it enough. It is definitely the queen of all eyebrow treatments as it consists of seven steps including tinting, waxing and threading to get your brows looking flawless. I haven't actually had mine done for a while which is why they are looking a bit poopy again in my 'before' photo but as soon as I have money I will be booking myself an appointment. After the treatment my brows looked super defined and groomed. (See 2012 photo - this was taken just after the HD Brows treatment).

So now your up to date with my ever changing brows, this brings me on to the product I want to talk about in this post; 'Benefit Brow Zings'. I'd read a few rave reviews about this particular kit which contains a wax, a powder, two brushes and a teeny pair of tweezers. It had been on my wish list for quite some time but as its a fairly expensive product (£22.50), I could never justify it. However, when my birthday came around this year I decided to bite the bullet and use some of my birthday money to buy it. I figured it would be an investment and something I would use every day which made me feel better about the high price tag. I also thought it looked super cute and as a sucker for pretty packaging, I was inclined to buy it even more. I decided to go for the 'Dark' kit but there is also a 'light' and 'medium' kit available so there should be something to suit anybody. I quite like a dark brow which is why I went for the darker kit.

Since purchasing this product back in July, I have used it every single day. Seriously, this is the best eyebrow product I have ever used. I used to use a standard brow pencil but looking back at photos of myself I can see that it looked very unnatural in comparison to the Brow Zings. The reason the Brow Zings looks more natural is because it is a wax/powder combo instead of a pencil. Pencils are known for creating very harsh and defined lines whereas a powder adds the same definition without looking too harsh. The purpose of the brow kit is to apply the wax first to keep stray hairs in place and then apply the powder to fill in sparse areas. I must admit, I often neglect the wax as I find I don't have time to apply both but I use the powder every day and find it quick and easy to achieve well groomed, defined brows. I use the small brushes provided to apply the product and although they work perfectly fine I eventually want to get a MAC angled liner brush to replace it.

As you can see from the before and after photos above, the Brow Zings has given my brows a much more defined and groomed finish. I feel much more confident when my brows are looking good and would probably prefer to leave the house without foundation than without my brows filled in. It is a staple part of my daily makeup routine and I can't see myself using anything else for a long time. This kit will last me an absolute life time as I only need to use a teeny tiny bit each time. Therefore the pricey cost is in my opinion completely justified. If you want to get your hands on this product, it is available here on the Benefit website.

I hope you all have a great weekend and have some nice plans. My two crazy aunties are currently on their way up to Newcastle to stay with me for the weekend so I am very excited to see them and have a jolly old time. We are going to the comedy club tonight so that should be a good laugh.

Have you ever tried Benefit Brow Zings? Do you use a product on your eyebrows or keep them au natural?

Lots of Love,

P.S - I posted my giveaway on Wednesday so if you haven't entered yet you can enter here. It's open internationally and there is 15 products up for grabs, oohhh!

Girls With Attitude False Eyelashes

 *Triple Lash 1 - Link
*Glamour to Go Party Lahes 003 - Link
 *Seriously Curvy - Link
*Glamour to Go Party Lashes 001 - Link

Hi Ladies! I'd like to start this post by saying a HUGE thank you to everyone who left a lovely comment on my last post. I've replied to every single one of them so if you left one make sure you check back for a reply. I'd also like to say that this is my 200th blog post. Wowza, I can't believe I have had 200 things to write about. Crazy! Thanks again for all your continued support, it means so much to me.

Today I would like to share these amazing lashes I recently discovered. A while ago I was contacted by a company called Girls With Attitude asking if I would be interested in trying some of their lashes. Now I've mentioned it before and I'll say it again, I always look at PR samples and think 'would I actually buy this myself' and as soon as I saw these lashes I knew that I would so I jumped at the chance to try them. Firstly, the GWA website is absolutely amazing. I love nothing more than a well designed website that is easy to navigate and pleasing on the eye. This website is definitely one of those as everything is in easy to find sections and you can find the style of lashes you are after with ease.

The lovely girl who emailed me kindly said I could pick my three favourite pairs to try so I had a browse and picked the three above minus the Triple Lash which they threw them in as an extra, how generous? I must admit, when looking through the website, there were SO many I loved the look of, I found it rather tricky choosing my favourite three. However, with plenty of uuming and ahhing I chose one pair from their standard line called 'Seriously Curvy' and two sets from their Glamour to go line; 'Glamour to Go 001' and 'Glamour to Go 003'. I loved the look of these as they were glamorous but not too over the top which is something I always look for in false lashes.

When they arrived in the post I was once again seriously impressed. I really love the outer packaging of these lashes, colourful and fun. I was also impressed by how natural the lashes looked themselves as quite often false lashes can look plastic and fake. These lashes instantly reminded me of Eylure lashes which have always been a firm favourite of mine. The only thing I will point out that slightly confused me about the packaging is the name placement. On the standard lashes 'Seriously Curvy' was wrote down the side so it was easy to see what they were called but the 'Glamour to Go' pairs didn't appear to have a name wrote anywhere. I'm not sure why that is and It's not a huge deal but I guess I like to know the name of each pair when it comes around to re-purchasing.

Now I haven't had the chance to wear all of these lashes yet and I didn't want to ruin them just to get some photos but I have worn the 'Seriously Curvy' and 'Glamour to Go 003' (photographed above) and absolutely ADORED them. They were so easy to use, very natural looking and shaped to my lash line perfectly. I popped them on after doing my eyeshadow, used liquid liner to hide the 'strip' and then popped on a coat of mascara. I found that the lashes blended excellently with my natural lashes and they made my eyes look very glam. I also really like the glue that they come with as again it's very similar to the Eylure glue.

Overall, I LOVE these eyelashes. They have definitely joined Eylure in my favourite lashes club and are some of the nicest I have ever worn. I will 100% be repurchasing a few pairs of these but with the amount of choice on the website I won't know which ones too choose. I am also including a pair in my upcoming giveaway so keep your peepers out for that ladies. Each of these lashes cost £5.00 apart from the triple pair which are £6.50 and they are available on the Girls With Attitude website here and they also offer false nails, nail art and body art.

If you are looking for a perfect pair of lashes, make sure you check these out! Have you tried these lashes before? Do you like wearing false eyelashes?

Lots of Love,

OMG! 2000 Followers? SAY WHAT?

Image: weheartit Writing: Me

Hey Ladies! I hope you all had a spiffing weekend. Did I really just use the word spiffing? Yes I did, oh deary me I'm getting old. My boyfriends parents have been visiting for the past couple of days so we have had a lovely weekend eating nice food and drinking wine. We went to the comedy club in Newcastle last night and it was absolutely hilarious. We loved it so much we are going back next weekend for more laughs. If you live in the Newcastle area, I'd highly recommend it as it's a super cheap and fun night out. I missed The X Factor but I'm going to catch up with it after writing this post as I can't wait to see what drama happens this week. NOW LOUIS, NOW!!!! If you don't watch x factor, that was a reference to Dermot O'Leary getting very annoyed at Louis Walsh on last weeks show. Comedy gold I tell you.

To make my weekend ten million times better, I got home in the early hours of this morning and realised my little blog has only gone and reached 2000 GFC followers. When I saw that number staring back at me I was blown away. I know everyone always writes a big thank you speech when they hit a milestone but I think it is so important as I couldn't be more grateful. The fact I've not even been writing my blog for a year yet and have had such an amazing response has really touched me. When I first started this blog, I didn't think a soul would read it. I was essentially rambling away to myself and didn't even know what 'followers' were. After a couple of weeks I saw a few faces popping up in the sidebar and was overjoyed each time I saw a new face. I still feel that way now. I always try my hardest to check out all of your blogs if you leave me nice comments or tweet me as without you lot, I would essentially be talking to myself like a total loon.

Image: weheartit

This may sound extreme but blogging has really changed my life. A lot of you who don't write blogs might not understand that but it has given me confidence, helped me to deal with personal issues, introduced me to some amazing people and has also given me faith in my abilities. Since writing this blog I have shared my experiences with OCD, taken you all with me on my journey to Australia and have met some amazing girls *friends* along the way. The best part of blogging for me is being able to share my interests and passions with likeminded people. I won't start naming names (theres too many of you) but any of you reading this that have taken time out of your day to send me an email or drop me a tweet really do mean a lot to me. I would class a lot of you as friends now and although we have never met face to face, I feel like lots of you know more about me than people in my 'real' day to day life. I enjoy our twitter chats, reading all of your blog posts and generally getting to know you. I know for a fact when we do get around to meeting in person that we will be great pals! (Awww!)

Blogging has also been an great escape for me. If you read my OCD post you will know that I've gone through some tough times dealing with massive confidence issues and if I'm honest, a bit of depression. Not only has blogging helped me to believe in myself again it has also opened my eyes to how many wonderful people are out there going through the same experiences as me. I seriously can't imagine my life without it anymore as I love nothing more than spending an afternoon taking photos, writing posts and chatting to you all on Twitter. It is the best thing I have ever done and the experiences and knowledge I have gained from it are invaluable. Not only have I met some amazing people, I have also been lucky enough to be invited to events and sent products from amazing companies. Whenever I receive an email from a company telling me they love my blog I could burst with excitement. It really is quite surreal to know so many people are actually reading my ramblings.

Image: weheartit

So without rambling on for too much longer (I told you I'm a rambler) I just want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! My blog is constantly developing and growing and without you lot taking the time to read it and leave me nice comments, it wouldn't be possible. I am so grateful for each and every single one of you and hope to get to know you all more in the future.

I have also been planning a giveaway over the last couple of weeks as a thank you for supporting me and to show you all my appreciation. I have been buying lots of my favourite things from the high-street and it's safe to say I have gone a little bit wild. It will be an international giveaway so you can enter no matter where you are. Theres going to be lots of nice treats included and I'm actually going to be quite jealous of the person who wins. I'm going to try making the rules of the giveaway quite tricky so only genuine readers can enter. I'm not interested in gaining followers from a giveaway, I genuinely just want to say thank you. I'm really excited about it as I've only ever done one giveaway when I reached 100 followers and that seems like a lifetime ago.

I appreciate it more than you could ever imagine and I really hope you continue to read what I have to say. Oh and don't forget to get in touch with me by Twitter or email if you ever fancy a chat. I always love to have a natter with people who read my blog.

Thanks again guys, your the best!

Lots of Love,
